About Massachusetts licensure

To become a licensed real estate salesperson in Massachusetts, candidates must complete 40 hours of approved pre-license education, pass a background check, and pass the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons licensing exam (typically administered by Pearson VUE or PSI). Licenses must be renewed every 2 years, with continuing-education hours required each cycle. Brokers must hold an active salesperson license and additional broker pre-license education before sitting for the broker exam.

Commercial driver licensing in Massachusetts is issued by the Massachusetts RMV in accordance with FMCSA standards. Knowledge tests cover general commercial driving, plus endorsement-specific tests for air brakes, hazardous materials (with TSA threat assessment), passenger transport, school bus, tank vehicles and double/triple trailers. The skills test (pre-trip inspection, basic control and road test) is administered after passing the knowledge tests and obtaining a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP).
